information about the various aspects of forestry, especially from a
private landowner perspective, and I hope it fulfills that goal.
I have divided the page up into topics for better organizationn and, I

Conservation
Easements
Conservation easements are an item that
landowners are increasinly coming in contact with, either hearing or
reading about them or, in some cases, being approached for
granting one. This year, 2004, several problems that private
landowners have had in dealing with easements have come to my
attention. In all cases the problems were due to the lack of
knowledge of the landowner about the specific conservation easement
proposed, or in place, or what a conservation easement entails. I have
started this section off with a book about conservation easements,
which is written in lay language by Dr. Steven Bick and Harry L. Haney,
Jr. Steve is a practicing forester and very familiar with conservation
easements. I will add more material as I can accumulate it, and
get permissions where needed, on this "hot" topic for some forest
landowners.
